CEO SPADO message

Stop Killer Robots

The campaign is all about stopping the development of autonomous weapons. The development of such autonomous weapons would be cataclysmically destabilizing the society, and there is a need to immediately stop such developments. Use of autonomous weapons in warfare is politically unacceptable and morally unethical. The resources being used in the development of killer robots can be effectively used to serve humanity in the sectors of health, education, environment and so on…

The campaign calls on states to:

  • Adopt an international, legally binding instrument that prohibits the development, production, and use of fully autonomous weapons;
  • Adopt national laws or policies that establish prohibitions on the development, production, and use of fully autonomous weapons.
  • Companies and individuals working on artificial intelligence and related technologies should support the call for a ban and pledge not to help develop fully autonomous weapons.

Its More Dangerous Than Covid-19 Pandemic

Just like corona virus pandemic has altered the world immeasurably, if the production of killer robots is not stopped, it will be a devastating future pandemic even more than Covid-19 where the global community will be impotent to prevent it before its occurrence.

It’s high time to prevent this future pandemic of killer robots to save humanity, otherwise the catastrophic impacts of autonomous weapons will be beyond our imaginations. The development, production and use of fully autonomous must be banned.

What You Can Do?

Tell the world the solid reasons to stop development of killer robots. Spread awareness and show your support in order to build a strong momentum towards a legally binding treaty banning killer robots.

If killer robots were deployed it’s unclear who if anyone could be held responsible for unlawful acts, would it be the programmer? the manufacturer? the commander? Somehow the machine itself?

If robotics were allowed to fully develop and they were autonomous (Killer Robots as I Call them); they would be able to be programed, set free, and make the decision about when, where, who and how to attack

There is nothing in Artificial Intelligence or robotics that could discriminate between a combatant and a civilian. It would be impossible to tell the difference between a little girl pointing an ice-cream at a robot or someone pointing a rifle at it.

The best possible option to avoid future human sufferings and unnecessary arms race is to prohibit the LAWs (Lethal Autonomous Weapons) through a legally binding treaty.

Artificial Intelligence could be effectively used to serve humanity in the sectors of health, education, environment and so on rather developing deadly weapons.
