There is a dire need to support the initiatives of the government at civil society level as lack of civil society involvement in addressing the issues of peace and conflict resolutions is one of the important element missing in the war against extremism and violence in this part of the world. SPADO being a civil society organization is addressing the issues of sectarian extremism, intolerance and pluralism through the active and practical participation of religious scholars, youth and media.

The main goal of the initiative is to contribute into the development of a peaceful and tolerant society where communities and ethnic groups in Pakistan particularly in Khyber PukhtunKhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) adjoining Afghanistan lives in peace and harmony.

Various events and trainings have been arranged for Imams (leaders of 5 times prayers) on sectarian violence, conflict prevention, management and mutual co-existence. A dialogue of prominent religious scholars, academia, media, government, intellectuals and representatives of civil society organization on inter-communal violence was also arranged the outcomes of which were widely disseminated.
