Sustainable Peace and Development Organization (SPADO) with the support of Karachi Youth Initiative (KYI) carried out a research and capacity building project focused on understanding the drivers of violence and extremism through conflict analysis and mapping and at the same time trained potential youth of the target areas in conflict transformation.
The overall goal of the project was to improve the effectiveness of peacebuilding programs especially engaging youth and to provide recommendations based on the field research for future programming.
In order to achieve the objectives of the project, in the first phase a research was carried out where field interviews were conducted and later on focused group discussions were held with the potential stakeholder of the project areas. Based on the field research and interactions with local communities 75 potential youth of the project areas was selected for trainings in conflict transformation. Participants from diverse backgrounds were provided with interactive training that included presentations, group work, role plays and videos. The trainings provided further insights and information for the final research report which included recommendations for youth peacebuilding projects in similar cultural contexts.
