Youth Engagement to Promote Social Cohesion
The Youth Engagement to Promote Social Cohesion Programme was implemented in partnership with Generations for Peace in Peshawar. The project was supported by the Olympic Council of Asia. The project focused on using GFP’s Sport For Peace curriculum to engage youth. The program aims to foster peace and social cohesion through sports and arts.
Sixty-five youth participants took part in the community engagement initiative, which combines sports and arts as tools for peacebuilding. During the first stage, they participated in "Poetry for Peace," where young people affiliated with different political parties practiced in the acceptance and tolerance initiative focused on writing and sharing poems about peace. In the second stage, the participants and volunteers remained engaged in interactive activities and showcased their artistic illustrations of peace to the public. Moreover, the youth from various ethnic, political and religious backgrounds participated in the sports activities delivering messages of peace, tolerance and mutual coexistence.
