Youth Engagement to promote peace and stability

With the vision to create and identify opportunities and platforms for the youth to make them active agents of peace and development, SPADO is implementing the “Youth engagement through social action project in Peshawar”. During the project cycle, initially the capacity of 350 potential youth both male and female was developed in national harmony, community development, peacebuilidng and democracy. The youth of target areas was linked through a network utilizing their potentials in a positive and productive way. Social action projects were also developed and implemented in target community during the project period through the active participation and engagement of youth.

The overall objective of the project is that youth at risk is contructively and productively engaged in national development and community based social actions contributing to the promotion of national harmony and peacebuilidng .

The following main activities were implemented in target community during project cycle,
• Consultative meetings were held with communities and local government officials.
• 587 youth were selected and trained on community development, peacebuilidng and national harmony.
• 65 social action projects were implemented by youth in local community.
• Community mobilization meetings were held.
• 05 Advocacy events were organized.
• Referral mechanism was developed.
• 53 community awareness sessions were conducted on the role of youth in peacebuilding
